Dillo Backup Change Log
A timeline of what shipped in Dillo Backup, newest first. Current release: v1.0.3 — Power & Protection.
v1.0.3
Power & ProtectionLatestFocus: Hardware automation and data safety
- Auto-Wake (Plug & Play): the app now automatically detects when your backup drive is plugged in and triggers assigned jobs instantly.
- Time Capsule (Versioning): added support for file versioning. Keeps a history of modified files in a mirrored folder structure so you can “go back in time.”
- Sequential Backup Queue: added intelligent drive management. If multiple jobs point to the same drive, they now run one‑by‑one to prevent hardware wear and disk thrashing.
- Native Notifications: implemented OS‑level “Toast” notifications to confirm backup starts, successes, and errors while the app is hidden.
v1.0.2
Official LaunchReleasedFocus: Rebranding and commercial transition
- Brand Pivot: officially rebranded from “Dillo” to Dillo Backup to avoid naming conflicts and improve clarity.
- Premium Model: transitioned from open source / donation‑ware to a one‑time payment commercial model.
- Simplified Licensing: replaced the MIT license with a simple, proprietary End User License Agreement (EULA).
- Stripe Integration: secure checkout now handled via Stripe for lifetime license keys.
v1.0.1
Silent & ReadyReleasedFocus: System tray and autostart improvements
- Minimized to Tray: added full system tray integration for Windows and macOS.
- Silent Autostart: implemented the --hidden flag to allow the app to start in the background on boot without popping up a browser window.
- Tray Controls: added “Open Dashboard” and “Quit” context menu options directly from the taskbar / dock.
v1.0.0
Initial ReleaseReleasedFocus: Local-first backup baseline
- First public release of the local-first backup engine for Windows and macOS.
- Incremental backups, scheduling, and SHA-256 verification.
